Controller compatibility

Which kinds of free-to-play titles work well with a controller, which resist it, and what to do when support is partial.

Where controllers help

Vehicle and flight games are the clearest case. War Thunder has full controller and joystick support, and analogue input genuinely improves aircraft handling in realistic modes.

Strategy and management games are the opposite. They are built around precise pointing and dense interfaces, and controller mapping tends to make them slower to use.

Partial support

Where support is incomplete, a controller-to-keyboard mapping tool can cover the gaps, but check the game's rules first — some competitive titles restrict third-party input software.
